Solar Transit in Gate 40: The Gate of Aloneness

As someone who doesn’t have either of these gates in my chart, I’ve found this transit particularly challenging and enlightening.

Gate 40 rests on the Ego or Will center, connecting it to the emotional center through Gate 37 (The Gate of Family). This establishes a dynamic between your need to work hard and provide and your equally important need for rest and solitude. The archetype of Gate 40 is a Breadwinner/Provider – there is a need to support a community, family, or your business that is felt acutely, but the question here is about having the energy resources to do so successfully.

I’ve noticed myself falling into this pattern. There’s this urge to do it all, to be the provider, but also a strong need to retreat and recharge. It’s like that classic family scenario: the breadwinner comes home exhausted, saying, “Leave me alone. I’ve been working all day!”

Let’s unpack.

During this transit, you might feel pulled to fulfill all your responsibilities while also craving time alone to recharge. There can be a tendency to deny your need for help or support from or towards others, as Gate 40 carries a “leave me alone” energy when exhausted.

The key here is balance. We need to honor both our drive to provide and our need for rest. It’s okay to set boundaries and to take time for yourself. In fact, it’s essential.

Earth in Gate 37 (Gate of Family)

Balancing this with the themes of grounding Gate 37 – the gate of Family, with the archetype of the Distributer for management of community and fairness – is crucial. Gate 40 carries very strong-willed masculine energy, and its ego requires a little “massaging” with understanding and loyalty that the grounding energy of Gate 37 offers.

Now, when we pair Gate 40 with Gate 37, we get the Channel of Community (40-37). This brings in themes of family, distribution, and fairness. It’s about making deals and honoring agreements. I find it fascinating how this channel highlights the delicate balance between giving and receiving, between work and family life.

How To Cope

It can be tricky, as it is, for example, for me this week. The only way to cope with it, I feel, is by practicing acceptance and setting healthy boundaries but in gentle, more feminine ways. Approach this with “child-like openness and curiosity” rather than an ego-driven need for control.

This is a time to be mindful of burnout and overextension. It’s important to take breaks, set boundaries, and avoid the temptation to do everything yourself. By tapping into the grounding energy of Gate 37, you can find more harmony in your relationships and responsibilities.

You can’t serve others if you’re feeling inadequate, lost, or tired. This transit invites you to prioritize your own needs first so you can show up more fully for others.

Remember, the key is to find that balance between providing and resting, between giving and receiving. Trust the process, and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. While this transit will eventually pass, the lessons it brings can be invaluable.

One thing I’ve learned during this transit is the importance of knowing and communicating our needs. It’s not selfish to put yourself first – it’s necessary. If we’re constantly giving without replenishing our own energy, we’ll burn out. And trust me, I’ve been feeling that exhaustion!
I encourage you to watch for these themes in your life this week. Are you trying to do too much? Are you denying help from others? Are you honoring your need for rest and solitude?

Remember, it’s okay to take a step back. It’s okay to say no. In fact, by taking care of yourself first, you’ll be in a much better position to support others.

As we navigate these energies, let’s be kind to ourselves. Let’s honor our needs and set healthy boundaries. And most importantly, let’s remember that true strength comes from balance – the balance between providing and resting, between giving and receiving.
