Is Human Design A Cult? Business By Human Design

by | Jul 9, 2023

As I study Human Design, one message that Ra Uru Hu keeps repeating in most of his lectures is a warning not to take Human Design as a rulebook or a dogma.

It is merely a map, a blueprint of your energy flow. It is there whether you know it or not; you have all the energies whether you realize it or not. Understanding and especially knowing all the little details is only for those who want a deeper understanding of the topic and want to know how to read those maps.

So what does the map do? It merely allows you to understand the territory so you can find the path to where you are going. The Human Design system also gives you very poignant action-related tools based on your Design: your type strategy and your decision-making authority.

It is up to YOU and you alone to develop the awareness and correct understanding of how to use these tools – which can happen only through experimenting with them – it is not a mental process, per se, but a more conscious, intentional approach to living.

When we become intentional about our interactions with others and our decision-making, we discover our TRUTH beneath the loudness of the Mind. And this is when deconditioning starts happening.

And yet, no matter how deep your knowledge about Human Design is – you can still act out of conditioning constantly. I see Human Design experts treating it and teaching it as a cult-like dogma.

I see Projectors who are fully aware of their Sacral openness still doing waay too much, spreading themselves waay too thin and exhausting themselves continuously.

I see Generators who study spirituality, who, instead of going deeper and focusing on WHO they are (their existential question), grab on to the others and try to “convert” or fix or save them, getting frustrated and then projectile-vomiting that frustration at the others—and holding on to their grudges. Oh boy.

I see Human Design teachers getting conceptually defensive (an open Ajna conditioning) and unintentionally presenting the original System as something that sounds like a cult.

Yet it is not and was never meant to be a set of rules.

I am sure I act out of conditioning so much all the time, I do not even realize it. Even though when I slow down and become present in the moment, it becomes instantly so obvious to me. Ironically only in hindsight. And that is (also ironically) part of my Human Design.

We are Humans. No matter what we know, the way we act will always remain Human.

And this is why my approach to using Human Design is simple. Like a good friend recently called it, it is a buffet. I play with it picking what I like, and the rest stays on the table. If I fancy later, I will come up and try something else.

I have been experimenting with following my Strategy and Authority for a couple of years- enough to see absolute proof that when I don’t – things can turn pretty messy. Unnecessary lessons, unnecessary drama.
When I do, even the lessons that seem dramatic turn out to be the lessons that propel my growth.

And I experiment with following my Strategy and Authority in my personal life and business alike because they are all ME and how I express myself and fulfil my purpose.

In marketing, understanding your Human Design profile is crucial, because I believe it lets us realize how we are perceived and also lean into what is the most natural way of “being of value” and expressing your wisdom authentically. It is not the same for everyone. I serve others by processing a lot of information/experiences internally and then sharing my insights. This is natural for me as a 1/3 profile person. Understanding the shadows of my personality line 1 was simply invaluable because those are the most prominent blocks we often refer to as the Fear of Visibility.

I do dabble a little in the Incarnation Cross/ channels interpretation, as well as looking for some inspiration in my Selling By Design elements, which really is more of a juicy name – let’s be completely honest and transparent here. As a marketer, I know that juicy names work. But it is important to see what is behind that juicy name and how specifically to use it, which I always explain too. All these things help us understand ourselves better, and selling magnetism comes mostly from self-recognition and conviction in your own power (empowerment) – knowing yourself adds to that. This is how magnetism works by default.

But again, it is not a rulebook. You can choose what you want to experiment with, what you want to try and what is sitting there on that buffet table, and you know it will never appeal to you. And it is absolutely fine to let it be.

If you want some direction on how to use Human Design in your marketing, my Marketing Blueprint By Design™ offer could be perfect for you. I promise it will not require you to stick to any rules if you do not feel it, but it will definitely help you empower yourself to be irresistibly magnetic as who you are in your self-expression.
