How To Grow Your Facebook Group & Email List Simultaniously With Quizzes

by | Sep 1, 2020

Growing an audience online is a difficult process, especially when you are focusing on producing highly engaging content that attracts and creates a strong connection with your followers. But as online marketers, we also need to have a measurable objective that the content we put out there serves.

My Facebook funnel is quite simple. I get extremely active and consistent connecting and producing content on my personal profile on Facebook. It is such an overlooked tool for building your visibility and brand authority – without resorting to salesy tactics or breaking any rules about using your personal profile for commercial gain.

Here is how I do it or as I call it my V.A.L.U.E. Method. While I focus on connecting to the audience that resonates with my worldview on my personal profile, I often mention my Facebook group, Visibility that Sells For Experts, Coaches & Service Providers. Naturally, the name of the group speaks for itself, and this is where I drive most of my followers in to.

And here is a secret. I have a handy little extension called Group Funnels installed on my Chrome Browser. I ask everyone who joins my group some strategic market research questions – one of them is an offer of one of my free resources in exchange for their email address. Group Funnels tool helps me push all those answers into the Google sheet that I can integrate with my email list, so it is growing at the same time as my group.

This solution, however, has one little problem. As the questions are optional, some people who apply do not leave their email, so I am losing an opportunity to add them to my list.

This is when I found a solution that is helping me not just to increase the email list sign-ups, but to engage my audience is a fun, yet educational activity – TAKING A QUIZ! Quizzes are the most interactive type of content with a potential of going viral, and I always wanted to be able to use them in my social media marketing toolbox.

I have looked into various quiz making tools, but the problem for me was always coming up with the questions and results – the task made me so overwhelmed I started and gave up on creating a quiz several times.. Until I came across Interact Quizzes– an fantastic online quiz making tool for marketers that took the pressure off and offered me a great solution to boost my list building results!

When I started creating my quiz, I was given an option to create a totally custom quiz from scratch or start with a template, which was a God-sent solution to my previous struggles, and without hesitation, I went to check out existing templates.

The next step is choosing the industry -you can even choose more than one to have a wider range of templates to choose from. Then the quiz type, which can be either Assessment, Personality or Scored ( literally this covers all possible quizzes you can create). I love personality quizzes, so as my ideal client is very similar to me type of person, I knew this was the right type for me.

Building and editing options are beyond impressive! I could change colours, fonts, add my branding, set up correlations between the answers and the results and so much more!

Integrations blew me away and were really easy to set up and sharing options were simply excellent – from embedding the quiz into your website or blog to creating pop-ups, sharing directly on social media or even full instruction on how to create a Facebook ad from the quiz.

When the templates loaded, I was so impressed, and there were so many ready-to-go quizzes to choose from that fit my goals perfectly, I did not even have to do any customisation if I wanted a quick solution.

My quiz topic had to be very appealing to my ideal client, which means it has to be something either very practical or tapping into the spiritual side of things. As I know that all my clients are very connected with their spiritual side, the name of the quiz was perfect. So I chose “What’s Your Marketing Spirit Animal?” quiz template.

When I took the quiz to try it out – it was PERFECT! The goal to help my audience see what they need to focus on and then direct them to join my group for support was perfectly served by the template, with just small changes.

Editing the template was very easy. Everything from the name/images/questions/call to action is customisable, and the cherry on top is the autoresponder integration, so I could offer an option to have the results emailed to them, while I am growing my list and still forwarding my leads into my Facebook group!

The most time I spent editing (about 30 min in total) were the result pages of the template.

The questions answers were perfect and did not really need any adjustments. I only changed a couple of pictures on the questions, which actually gave me several styling options to make my quiz more fun and engaging.

In fact, the template’s original copy fitted perfectly into my upcoming 5-day Social media Content Planning Challenge, and I added a paragraph inviting my leads to join the challenge inside the group.

I loved the fact that I could play with the correlations of questions and answers. Maybe not for this particular quiz, but I have used it in some of my other quizzes I since created with Interact to ensure that my leads are brought through the paths I want them to go. (A great option if you are using your quiz as a pre-qualifier for your website visitors on the home page – but this is a subject for another blog article!)

There is a fantastic integration inside Interact settings that allows connecting each answer to a particular list in your autoresponder, I use Active Campaign so that you can send them highly targeted automated campaigns, based on the results, but for this specific quiz, I decided to make it a little simpler.

I created an engaging landing page on my website promoting my challenge, so the Call to action on my quiz brought them onto this landing page, got them excited about the challenge and they had to register to take place. Upon their email address submission, they were redirected straight into my group!

Such a simple and highly converting funnel!

The next stage was the promotion.
I decided to embed the quiz on my website and my blog with a simple pop up. There is a small script that I needed to add to the pages where I wanted the pop up to appear, but the instructions were very easy to follow.

As I am very active on my personal profile on Facebook, I created a content plan around promoting the quiz there, plus I repurposed some of the posts on my Business page and through other platforms, I am on, like LinkedIn and Twitter.

At the end of the week, I had 150 people registering for the challenge (and 150 new leads on my email list) and 54 new members in my Facebook group! This shows that 100 people who were already in my group, but not on my list, were now added to my email marketing campaigns!

And this is without spending any money on ads! Wow- the cost of using the Interact Quiz Builder has been the only expense and what happened next was even better! At the end of the 5-day challenge, I made an offer that sold at a whopping 5-figure profit!

What can I say? Quizzes are by far the best free lead magnet that worked for me both for growing my group and my email list FAST! And with so many templates available to start using straight away – the freebie creation headache is completely eliminated so that you can generate your leads beginning today!
