On Consistency For A Manifesting Generator In Business
As a Manifesting Generator, you may feel overwhelmed by the hustle and struggle to maintain motivation in your business. To achieve consistent results, focus on tasks that energize and excite you, rather than waiting for inspiration to strike. Cultivating a disciplined approach to your energy flow, while eliminating unproductive activities, can help you build a successful business. Show up consistently to share your value and honor your unique energy dynamics to attract clients effectively.
Most of the time in marketing, as a Manifesting Generator, it can feel like you’re hustling too much (or you’re only thinking about how much hustling you have to do, and it feels exhausting and paralyzing). In the end, all you get is feeling more disconnected from your WHY and demotivated to show up in your business.
But the reality is you can’t build and sustain a business without some form of “hustle,” so you have to assess what you’re putting all your energy into and why you feel you don’t have the energy to fuel your business. What are you doing or focusing on that drains or dampens your internal fire?
Think about it from the law of attraction angle. On one hand, you want a profitable, successful business; on the other, you’re constantly emitting the energy of lack and fear, worried about how much you have to do, or unhappy about the business. It’s a chaotic, confusing message, so no results or manifestations are happening for you.
Alternatively, you are stalling, “hiding” in your non-business busy-ness, avoiding focused time to work on your business, or wasting it on unessential admin or other tasks that simply do not move the needle.
Oh, in case you are wondering, any content-creation tasks DO count as moving the needle, even though they are not expected to deliver INSTANT results. Yes, as an MG, that is what you really want, but, darling, this is NOT how real life works.
So cultivate your patience and manage your expectations! Yet the time you spend on creating valuable content for your business – through expressing your passion for it, of course, is contributing to building your foundations for nurturing and attracting clients – your Visibility Castle (I wrote an article about it here), and this is what I talked about in my “On Visibility That Sells” book (check it out here – opens in new tab, so you can finish this article).
So how can you ignite the flow as a Manifesting Generator?
I also recently read some great insights into how Manifesting Generator’s satisfaction or frustration can “leak” into everything else outside the source of these feelings. For example, working full-time in a job that depletes you can create frustration that then leaks into every other part of your life. That makes it impossible to create content or work on your business.
The opposite can happen just as well, by focusing on something that really lifts you up in absolutely any area of your life, this excitement and satisfaction can ignite other activities that you might switch to.
If you’re not feeling like working on your business, consider what you would like to do in this moment that you truly enjoy. Then go and do some of that, before turning to your content or business related tasks. Fill yourself with light first (nomatter where that ligth comes from)
Waiting to be lit up is killing your progress!
I think human design experts, including me, are to blame for giving you the wrong idea when we say focus on what “lights you up.” Because of that statement, as a Manifesting Generator, you might assume that you need to be excited before you create something. However, the feeling of excitement is in short supply these days. While the following advice applies to everyone, regardless of their energy type, I think it’s particularly important for both Generator types.
The real excitement, and specifically the satisfaction from your WORK (which is what you are as a Generator type here to discover and master in your lifetime), comes when you build the momentum by practicing it. What I mean is that you need to stop waiting for the muse.
Often the excitement, creativity, and energy comes AFTER you’ve started working on yur content.
This simply means starting to work, and you will feel satisfied as you become more DRAWN into it. The excitement comes as you reactivate yourself by focusing on developing your ideas (note: not coming up with them). And the ideas very rarely come to you when you are staring at your computer, hoping to get excited about something.
Figure out how you can capture ideas on the go, or even better, book your Visibility Castle Orientation with me, so we can discuss what will work for you.
We all have those activities in our businesses that make us buzz after we have started doing them. It could be going live, perhaps not so buzzing when you hit record, but then really getting into it as you speak. Or expressing yourself in a selfie – you may not feel that lit up when you click the capture button the first time, but after a couple of shots, you get loose and playful with it.
Writing an article, or crafting a great post from scratch, may not feel exciting – as it implies you have to stay put for a while. But as you start writing, that act of self-expression starts really getting your blood moving, you might even find yourself wiggling in your seat (I know I do often, as if my “tail is wagging” as I write or dictate).
Take stock of the specific tasks you perform in your business and highlight those that energize you. These are the tasks you should focus on more.
Forget any strategies and marketing advice about what you “should” be doing, and start eliminating or outsourcing everything else except the things you love doing. This will unlock the immense hustle capacity you possess as an MG by design, as you’ll be using this energy to work towards your purpose.
When I say “hustle” here, it is in the most vibrant context of the word: the buzz, the passion flowing, the light shining!
Don’t take a minute of your time for granted and reevaluate what you’re doing, and those long hours you spend on your perfectly aligned “hustle” will feel like a blessing, not a burden. In fact, do not spend too long on each task. When you feel the energy contracting and expiring, this means you need to take a break from that task for a bit. Park it! Switch to something else you are drawn to, but then come back to this one when you feel reenergized (again, do not expect the buzz BEFORE you have started working on it). That is how you can cultivate the discipline to be consistent and to complete the tasks in a way that works with your ever-switching energy flow!
Money comes when you show up and share your value consistently. It does not mean every day, but it requires a decision. And it’s only possible when you have an emotionally regulated nervous system and you show up in your marketing and sales in a highly magnetic state that stays consistent. This is why you need to understand and honor your energy flow specifics and work with it, not against it.
Consistency is all about discipline, so when you struggle with it, ask yourself what you choose to use your energy to be disciplined about. We CHOOSE to be consistent or not. The results we’re seeking elude us until we take our discipline around consistency as seriously as we expect the money from it.
Key Takeaways:
- Understand Your Energy. Recognize what activities energize you to maintain motivation and avoid burnout.
- Momentum is Essential. Start working on tasks to generate excitement and satisfaction, rather than waiting for inspiration.
- Eliminate Drains. Identify and reduce time spent on non-essential tasks that do not contribute to your business goals.
- Cultivate Discipline. Consistency is a choice that requires a mindful approach to managing your energy.
- Value in Visibility. Regularly share your unique value in the marketplace; attracting clients requires you to show up.
