Are You Sociable By Human Design But Hate Networking?

by | Aug 24, 2023

Just because something in your Human Design suggests you are designed to be a sociable person, often it is not exactly true for everybody.

We have to remember that Human Design is a science of DIFFERENTIATION which, in my opinion, means you have to figure out what being “sociable” is yours uniquely and what is just a homogenized societal belief.

Some elements in Human Design refer to one’s network and networking to create opportunities, visibility, influence, and so much more, especially when talking about the Generator energy or the upper trigram lines of your Human Design profile, to mention just the top-level.

And what happens when we first learn about these elements is that we immediately assume, for example, in terms of online visibility, that networking means joining Facebook groups and starting to “give value” and engage or that you have to attend conferences and other in-person networking events, join local Chambers of Commerce of become a BNL member to attract clients.

And yet, deep inside, it doesn’t feel that these environments and activities are correct. They feel OFF. They do not feel natural and don’t energize the way we hope they will (and, based on our assumption, the way we expect them to).

One big a-ha moment for me, studying, living, experimenting and observing my own Human Design mechanics in action, was a discovery that there is often an entirely different meaning to the suggested term that is TRUE TO ME.

And in order to fully comprehend how it works – in a way that empowers me incredibly – is to find my own meaning, my own flavour, if you wish. And then use it strategically to leverage my visibility or take advantage of it in some other way that helps me fulfil my purpose and feel accomplished.

So while 5/1s make excellent leaders (generals, if you wish) of others, providing exciting hands-on, tangible solutions to overcome crises, they are NOT designed to be sociable, and most prefer a quiet time with a few select.

And although 4/6s need to cultivate and moderate their network to create an environment for the right opportunities and influence to grow, they may not be eagerly sociable people at all, especially during the “on the roof” stage of their life – pulled away by their unconscious line 6, to process and reflect.

So while I truly believe someone who has no desire to become a Human Design analyst does not need to go studying every detail in-depth, it is vital that they go deep into finding that specific unique meaning of the top-level terminology- and do not try to go against their nature, just because it seems that the “right way” is to be a networking addict.

As someone with a Design of a “lone wolf” and yet still requiring the connection with people to fulfil their purpose in life, I know that it is possible to create your specific network and influence, to be selectively sociable and attract the right opportunities and people – without ever even leaving your office.

And when I work with my visibility clients, we try to go deeper into WHO they are and what feels right for them, even if the whole world tells them they should be doing something they feel off about. Because there is simply no THE RIGHT WAY, only their own way, and getting their head around that is a process in itself, and I help them through this process as a mentor.
