Are You Losing Money You Haven’t Made Yet?

The most important clarity you can have when it comes to what tool/strategies to use for client attraction is to understand WHAT LEVEL YOUR BUSINESS IS AT RIGHT NOW.

For example, if you are a coach who has only started your journey in online marketing, EVEN if you have had some clients and especially if most of your clients came through referrals and word of mouth – then the reality can be that you have no idea how to communicate your value to your potential client through copywriting (this is a fancy word for posting/emailing/text on your sales pages).

There will be thousands of “business consultants” that will try to get you to do email marketing/build your funnels and fancy websites/ run Facebook ads and advise you on “affordable” software (and a helpful hand) for managing it all. And that is ok, as they are in the business of helping businesses get more clients. I get that.
My issue is that a lot of them are prioritising getting you as a client over what YOU actually NEED right NOW, and what will help you convert your readers and viewers into paying clients.

What someone who is new to marketing themselves needs is learning to clearly communicate WHAT THEY DO to the ones that this is relevant to (and those who are ready and actively looking for a solution) – sometimes we refer to these people as “Ideal Clients”.

If you cannot articulate it in their specific way of talking about it, you will not “get through” to them, even if you are THE ONE who can help them.

But you can only articulate it to others when you can articulate it to yourself. When YOU are clear on what exactly you offer and what it looks like for your client (in their day to day lives), this is when you can start connecting to people to generally fit that description and start posting about what you do on Facebook.

You can create a lot of very valuable content around your offer. Bust through some objections before they even arise. Invite people to chat to you about (and this way get more real-life examples of their struggles or what they aspire to achieve) – so you can use more of their language in your content.

When THIS starts getting you more conversations and clients regularly – ONLY THEN you can consider the next level: fancy website, email marketing, Facebook ads, and other funnels.

Because if when you are trying to market yourself without clearly explaining what you do – all of the above is an utter waste of your money. And so it is in no way “affordable” – it is a day time robbery!

Goals over gadgets!

The level of business when funnels, sales pages, email marketing, ads and the rest starts working is when you SCALE your already established business.

How do I know? Learned the hard way.

There is another thing I learned. All of the above are still nice to have and you can do pretty much ALL your business just using Facebook, Messenger and a Paypal link. I am talking high 6 and 7 figures without a website, without ads, without complicated funnels.

The fastest way to get paying clients is to talk to people, not to send them to your website. Even when you have all of the above.

If you don’t already have a stream of new clients generated through connections and conversations, you are either in a DREAM UP or STARTUP phase in your business.

You need to grow it (not scale it just yet). And to grow it, you need to focus on two things:
1. Clarity in articulating your value to the RIGHT people. (And not try to convince those whose minds are closed to what you do, being a “saviour” is overrated and feels humiliating at the end too)
2. Consistent and frequent visibility in the Newsfeeds of people you are connected to. In order to achieve it, you need to not only create content every day but make sure you also engage on other’s content. Give and be regiven.

Only people who are not doing it regularly assume it will take over their life. Or they start and instead of allowing themself to take action imperfectly, sit there and stare at the screen for hours before writing anything or clicking Go Live button.

Seriously, if you recognise yourself, I beg you, be more “selfish” with your time, you cannot get it back. Unlike content that is here today and gone tomorrow and really the world will hardly stop to judge what you say or write – it takes ages and some effort to really get yourself noticed and followed.

Everything in life will take time to master. We are not born with the ability to walk, to talk. It takes years. Even if everyone around us talks and walks, we do not try to be perfect when we are babies. We just do whatever it takes to get there. THAT is what’s natural to every one of us.

Perfectionism isn’t. It is conditioning that we burden ourselves with as we learn to survive amongst our own (not so friendly) species. It is just the fact we need to deal with.

CLARITY plus CONSISTENCY plus TIME (to learn what works) minus PERFECTIONISM this is what you need and these things are CRUCIAL for your business to survive, grow and thrive.

Funnels and other fancy stuff comes after.
